The institute provides a range of treatment options for men with prostate cancer
The detection of prostate cancer can constitute a major diagnostic challenge. The combination of particular nuclear spin diagnostics (MRT) with transrectal colour-coded 3D ultrasound increases diagnostic reliability at our urology practice. With the aid of computerised evaluation of the ultrasound images, the success rate of prostate biopsy sampling is enhanced and the number of biopsies decreased.
In over 20 years of experience we have developed radical prostatectomy into a highly standardised procedure with the ability to respond to the particular situation of the individual patient, thanks to our command of versatile technical alternatives. We attach particular importance to a prostate surgery technique that aims to preserve potency and remove the pelvic lymph nodes after determining individual risk. In the case of localised prostate cancer we perform radical prostatectomy and - if necessary - lymphadenectomy, both through open surgery via an abdominal incision and laparoscopically (keyhole surgery).
Alternatively, we offer LDR brachytherapy alongside the implantation of radioactive seeds - the result is comparable to radical surgery in selected patients.
