Urethral surgery is performed at our state-of-the-art private clinic
The urethra is the tube that connects the bladder to the genitals, allowing urine to pass out of the body. Problems may arise if a patient develops a urethral stricture - a narrowing of the tube - as a result of injury or disease. This can cause pain when the patient attempts to urinate, as well as the inability to fully empty the bladder.
If left untreated, urethral strictures can lead to a medical emergency, as the patient may become completely unable to empty their bladder. It is therefore recommended that patients seek urethral surgery before the condition progresses to this stage.
One of the most difficult tasks is Urethral reconstruction surgery the reconstructive treatment of urethral lesions and strictures can be a challenging task, but is possible at the Institute of Urology. We standardised open urethral surgery. For the treatment of complex elongated strictures, transplants such as tissue strips from the buccal mucosa (inner lining of cheeks or lips) or prepuce (foreskin) can be used.
