The Institute of Urology offers comprehensive bladder cancer treatment.
Superficial (early) bladder cancer can be accurately diagnosed with the aid of special colour-marking by laser light and systematically removed by laser or electro-resection.
In case of invasive (advanced) disease which necessitates radical cystectomy, a bladder substitute constructed from part of the gastrointestinal tract (mostly small intestine) can replace the original bladder. We also try to preserve potency as far as possible in such cases.
We constructed the first ileal neobladder in 1983. The surgical techniques have continuously evolved since then and now enable extensive reconstructions of the urinary bladder and the ureters, both through open surgery and laparoscopically (keyhole surgery). Thus we possess one of the most comprehensive bladder cancer treatments in Germany.
If you have been diagnosed with bladder cancer or have symptoms that are causing you concern, please contact us by telephone or email to arrange an appointment.
